What size skip do I need?

Skip sizes range from small 2 and 4 yard skips for clear-outs and garden waste, through the popular 6 and 8 yard builders’ skips, up to 12 and 14 yard and roll-on roll-off (RoRo) skips for larger jobs. As a guide: a 4 yard skip suits a small bathroom or garden clearance, a 6 to 8 yard skip suits a typical home renovation, and 12 yard or RoRo is for commercial and construction waste. If you’re unsure, our team will help you choose, or you can compare sizes in our online booking tool.

What can I put in a skip?

Most general and mixed non-hazardous waste can go in a skip: household clear-outs, garden waste, soil and rubble, wood, metal, bricks and general construction waste.

What can't go in a skip?

Some items cannot go in a standard skip and must be handled separately: asbestos, plasterboard, paints, oils and liquids, batteries, gas canisters, electrical items (WEEE), tyres, and upholstered furniture such as sofas and padded chairs (classed as POPs waste). These need a quick special-request booking so the waste is disposed of legally and safely. Just ask and we’ll arrange the right container and paperwork.

How much does skip hire cost?

Skip hire prices depend on the skip size, the type of waste, and whether a road permit is needed. You can get an instant, no-obligation price and book online in under a minute, with no hidden charges.

Do I need a permit for a skip?

You only need a permit if the skip is placed on a public road or pavement. If it sits on your own driveway or land, no permit is required. Where a road permit is needed, we arrange it with the council for you.

Which areas do you cover?

We deliver skips across Gloucester and the wider Gloucestershire area, including Cheltenham, Stroud, Tewkesbury and the Forest of Dean. For multi-site or out-of-area work, we also arrange national coverage through National Waste Solutions.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Had a delivery on Thursday of some soil and stone from Allstone. Communication and the product was great and Clive the delivery driver was professional, friendly and efficient. Would happily use again.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We’ve used this place to dispose of tonnes of mixed waste and rubble over the past two weeks while working on a large project in Gloucester.
I can only say positive things, the process was quick, straightforward, and very transparent. Highly recommended.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Used Speedy skips to clear out my mother in laws house before a house move and had a 20 minute turnaround. We got Erroll, who was not only polite and prompt, but he actually helped us load the skip. I would definitely recommend this company based on his behaviour.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Have dealt with many companies and trades people these last 5 years but this company stands out above them all. Skip arrived 7.45am. 4 cubic yard same day pick up skip. Picked up 2.30pm. Phone calls, emails answered promptly. Phone staff very helpful. Message to customers. Keep skip contents level with top of skip. Read the list of things not to put in skip. Any doubts about any item you want to put in phone or email and ask first. Anyway many thanks to speedy Skips and trisha it has made a great difference inside the house.
