Most general and mixed non-hazardous waste can go in a skip: household clear-outs, garden waste, soil and rubble, wood, metal, bricks and general construction waste.

Some items cannot go in a standard skip and must be handled separately: asbestos, plasterboard, paints, oils and liquids, batteries, gas canisters, electrical items (WEEE), tyres, and upholstered furniture such as sofas and padded chairs (classed as POPs waste). These need a quick special-request booking so the waste is disposed of legally and safely. Just ask and we’ll arrange the right container and paperwork.

You only need a permit if the skip is placed on a public road or pavement. If it sits on your own driveway or land, no permit is required. Where a road permit is needed, we arrange it with the council for you.
